THIEVES OIL: A HYGIENE MUST

Regardless if your just looking to save a buck or things have gotten bad good hygiene is a must to prevent sickness and promote a sense of well being.  Here are a couple of my favorite recipes for making some essential hygiene products.

Easy Homemade Deodorant Recipe
Ingredients
6 Tbsp Arrowroot Powder
3 Tbsp shea butter
2 Tbsp Coconut Oil
1 Tbsp Baking Soda
2 Tbsp Bentonite Clay
10 drops of the essential oil of your choice (I used Purification essential oil blend because it neutralizes odors) (where to buy)
Directions
Add the shea butter and coconut oil to a stand mixer and whip it until incorporated. Turn down to low and slowly pour in the essential oil.
Meanwhile, in a separate small bowl, mix together your dry ingredients.
With your stand mixer on low, add 1/3 of your dry ingredients. Mix until incorporated and push down the sides as necessary. Then add another third of your dry ingredients and mix until incorporated. Then add the last of your dry ingredients. You should now have what appears to be little bits of dough in the bowl. Scoop the mixture out and roll into a ball like you are working with play dough. Then press into an airtight glass jar and store away from direct sunlight.
Apply a tiny pea sized amount to both underarms for all day protection.

Easy Homemade Foaming Hand Soap
Ingredients
1/3 cup Liquid unscented Castile soap
2/3 cup filtered water (where to get a water filter)
1/8 tsp essential oil (I use lavender, Thieves, peppermint, or lemon)

Equipment You’ll Need
These 8 oz. square Mason glass jars. Why? I love them because they are cute and retro looking but also modern and they also have handy 1/3 cup measuring lines on them.

Directions
Pour the Castile soap and the essential oil into the jar and stir to combine. Fill the jar the rest of the way up with water. Screw on the lid and pump away!
Now wasn’t that easy peasy? I make these with different scents for each jar. I like lavender, Thieves, or peppermint in our bathrooms and use lemon in the kitchen.

Squeezable Toothpaste
The recipe makes enough to fill one 3 oz. BPA-free tube. You can double or triple the recipe as needed to make a few batches at once for the whole family or as gifts.
Ingredients
3 Tbsp Bentonite clay
2 Tbsp coconut oil, at room temperature/liquid state
1 tsp whole ground stevia (this should be green not the white powder)
¾ tsp unrefined high mineral salt
1 tsp baking soda
3 Tbsp distilled water to thin, more as needed
1/4 tsp Thieves oil or any therapeutic grade essential oil you prefer. (I like to mix peppermint oiland Thieves and my husband likes fennel oil)

Directions
In a small glass bowl, blend together the coconut oil, stevia, salt, baking soda and essential oil until well incorporated. Mix in the bentonite clay and then slowly add the water a tablespoon at a time. When you have a smooth paste you are done! Scoop into your BPA-free tube and you will have squeezable toothpaste!
